Windhorse Flies again!

The new album, Dharmageddon, is coming together nicely. The first track to be released is the title track, an epic, 8-movement piece that  takes us on a journey through the stages of managing our internal world when the external world is falling apart, as ours seems to be doing. With the climate crisis, the rise of nationalism, the violence, corporacracies, the exclusion of so many humans from their basic human rights... the list goes on. This music is a soundtrack of on inner journey to find peace in the maelstrom and become a guiding light in a darkening world!

Windhorse is thankful for the amazing effort that Silas Neptune (also of Ozric Tentacles and Silas and Saski) has brought to the music through co-production, co-mixing, and so-sound design. Windhorse is running an Indiegogo campaign to support the completion of Dharmageddon. Please visit the campaign page and have a listen and look.

Thank you

The time is nigh...

Its been a series of sleepless nights trying to polish the Windhorse Live set for the upcoming show. I want to give the best performance I possibly can, so I will continue to work hard and stay focused on building something beautiful. The set will be 45-55 minutes, depending on how much groove is in the air. I can always jam it out longer if the vibe is hot and everyone is dancing.

New Year, New Windhorse show

I want to wish everyone a Happy New Year! I also wanted to let you know Ive been lying a low the last few weeks as Ive had some slow down in playing time due to a short-term wrist issue that is resolving nicely. That being said, I just got confirmation last night that Windhorse will be the headlining act at an excellent multimedia even my great friend Lynn Buckner has put together. The show will be on February 1, 2020 at WanderLinger Brewing Co. Chattanooga, TN. I hope I work well under a deadline as I have lots of live set building and rehearsing in preparation to really rock out for you. I am so excited to get on the stage and bring a super positive energy to share with everyone. I'll keep you posted on the happenings as we get nearer and maybe ask a few questions of you all on the way.

Thanks for your support,

D

Winter Solstice Season 1

Winter Solstice is closing in fast... Im both excited to see the light start increasing and feeling a long and gray season is setting in. I suppose the only solution is to use this time to dig in and create the bright world I want in the music. My plan is to begin a radical (for me) loop creation experiment starting January 1st. I will also begin the process of recording the 1st song (Above the Birds) for the new collection of music in January. All of this while honing the live set I'm building for everyone to hear/see/feel. I am hoping for an early February date for the first gig. I will keep everyone posted on all Windhorse Live events upcoming.

Well... the show must go on!

Well... that was unexpected! I just found out that the owner of Frequency Arts has decided to close shop at the end of the month, so that means no November 22nd show for Windhorse. I am not deterred in the least. It has been 16 years, so I am remaining patient in the knowledge that it must not have been the ideal show for me at this time. Windhorse will be live and playing this music for you all very soon. Thank you for all the support.

Still becoming...

Into the Now first release/re-release?

Finally the release of my (semi-released) first album, Into the Now. Its been pressed and ready to go for almost 5 years but I really haven't made it widely available until now. So just search Windhorse (the band) and you will find Into the Now is available pretty much everywhere you get your streaming music or downloads. Still waiting for Pandora to add the tunes but that will be soon enough. Excited to finally make the album available to everyone.

Windhorse Live update

Busy working on the Windhorse live set for the November 22nd show at Frequency Arts. Adding jams and melodies to try to coax y'all onto the dance floor. I have a new section in Mirage that I will be having Rory Faciane helping me craft a new dance beat for and Im hoping I can remember how to drop a bass in... Very excited to get this cut up into loops in Ableton and see if I can keep it all in time with my feet...Using this Looptimus foot switch to control the whole live set is going to be a new adventure for me but Im feeling it and I think it will bring the tracks to life. I'm also trying to figure out what to do for amplification. Carry my rig (heavy and... well not something I want damaged!) because it sounds like... feels like soaring on the wind, get a cheap backup amp such as a Boss Katana (light and flexible), or an amp pedal (maybe an AmpliFire Box) because its just a pedal (how simple is that!) Let me know what you think.

That day in the past has finally become this day in the present!

Well... after a non-existent original launch in January 2015, Into the Now is officially in the hands of a distributor and you should be able to find a download available at any of your preferred sites such as iTunes and Spotify in the next few days.

The Last of the Drummings

Finally got the Tangential tracks sent off to Rory Faciane to sprinkle his drum magic dust on. Rory has been playing/mapping the album drums to midi to help me create a live set that is more fLeXibLE! He's also adding some new grooves that will let me create new live loops and jams to help keep the dance floor hoppin'... Tangential is the last of the 6 songs from the Into the Now  album to get the treatment. While he works on the album version I am creating notes for the new grooves and I am hoping to keep it evolving like all the others. I want to bring a big live sound to the shows. I know I've got a lot of work ahead of me to get this right but I am excited to hear what it becomes and to experience it together with everyone.

1000 Days

Today marks 1000 days. 1000 days on a journey that I don't have a destination for. Each day I will play the guitar. This is how I will recover from the injury to my hand. This is how I will recover from the disillusionment and the despair over being unable to do what makes me feel most alive. I will increase each day until I am playing many hours each day. I will not deviate. I will have no excuses whatsoever. I will see the acupuncturist multiple times for wrist issues. I will have my arm worked on by many people to ensure I can physically continue without pause. I will play. I will find the truth in that damn guitar. And it will take me forever... but I will not stop.

Happy 1000 days on the journey to myself. After a serious injury to the tendons in my fretting hand just months after the release of my first album in 2015 (while in the midst of rehearsals for my first shows in 12 years) I was unable to play regularly for almost 9 months. This led to a fear that I would never be able to continue on my chosen path. To the degradation of my skills both mental and physical. To the pretending to move on from my dream. After a year and a half I was lost and confused and needed to find my way, I needed my dream back. I want to express my appreciation for the health and mental fortitude to continue each day to follow the path I have before me, however winding it may be and however lost I may become.

Thank you!
